Levels of Autism

Autism level 1 (ASD – 1)

Autism Level 1, (ASD-1) refers to a classification within the autism spectrum. Individuals with ASD-1, also known as “Mild autism” or “high-functioning autism,” display noticeable challenges in social communication skills and the presence of repetitive behaviors. However, their symptoms are generally milder compared to those with higher levels of Autism. People with ASD – 1 May have difficulty with social interactions and exhibit repetitive behaviors, but they often have better language and cognitive abilities than those with more severe forms of autism.

We work closely in the Southeastern Suburbs with individuals with ASD – 1, by offering Support Coordination and Plan Management.

Support Coordination plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with ASD-1 by providing guidance, advocacy, and coordination of services. We work closely with individuals and their families to develop and implement personalized support plans. This includes identifying your needs, setting goals, coordinating service providers, and monitoring progress. We also help individuals with Autism connect with appropriate therapies and organize events and social activities, educational programs, healthcare services, community resources, and social support networks. We can act as advocates, ensuring the person’s rights and choices are respected, empowering you to lead fulfilling lives.

On the other hand, a Plan Manager focuses on managing the financial aspects of an individual’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding. We handle administrative tasks, such as processing invoices, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines. We can alleviate the burden of financial management, allowing you to focus on accessing and utilizing the necessary support services effectively.

By understanding the unique challenges and strengths of individuals with ASD-1, our team can help you access the appropriate supports, maximize your NDIS funding, and enhance your and/ or your family member’s overall well-being and quality of life.

Autism level 2 (ASD -2)

Autism Level 2 is a classification within the autism spectrum. Individuals with Autism Level 2, also known as “moderate autism,” experience more pronounced challenges in social communication skills and exhibit a greater degree of repetitive behaviors compared to those with Level 1. People with Autism Level 2 may struggle more in social situations, have difficulty forming relationships, and may display more noticeable repetitive behaviors or restricted interests. These challenges are more significant than those observed in individuals with Autism Level 1 but are less severe than those with Autism Level 3.

We provide Support Coordination and Plan Management services in the southeastern suburbs for individuals with ASD-2 to connect them to suitable programs and services within their local area, fostering their social participation, skill development, and integration into the community.

Autism level 3 (ASD- 3)

Autism Level 3, (ASD -3) is a classification within the Autism Spectrum. Individuals with ASD -3, also known as “severe autism,” experience significant challenges in both social communication skills and the presence of repetitive behaviors. People at this level require substantial support for daily living and may have limited verbal communication abilities. Individuals with ASD – 3 often face difficulties in forming relationships, and engaging in social interactions, and may exhibit more intense and repetitive behaviors. This level represents the most severe form of Autism within the spectrum.

A Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with ASD-3 by providing comprehensive support and guidance. We work closely with the individual, their family, and relevant service providers to develop a tailored support plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. We help you to identify suitable services, therapies, and interventions to meet your unique requirements.
